HOW TO BLOW A BUBBLEGUM BUBBLE

     THE SCENE:  THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND

most of us don’t have to reach too far back in our memories

to remember the hours and hours we spent practicing

blowing bubblegum bubbles so we could look really “cool”...

KEEP THE TRADITION GOING!

spend some sweet, fun, innocent time with your kids and grandkids...

teach them how to blow a bubble!

you’ll get a “rush” knowing you haven’t lost the skill,

and they’ll think you’re the coolest person they know!

NEED A LITTLE REFRESHER COURSE?

no problem.

1st:  choose either dubble bubble or bazooka.

why those brands?  all gum contains sugar which is great for taste

but bad for bubbles...they contain less sugar and are harder to chew,

but provide greater strength for bubbles.

Next:  chew a fresh piece of bubblegum until it is soft and loses its flavor...

push the gum around with your tongue, and using the roof of your mouth

and your tongue, form the gum into the shape of a ball...

then flatten it against the back of your front teeth, while bracing

the edges of it against your top and bottom front teeth...

gently push your tongue through the gum

until there is a thin layer on the tip of your tongue...

using your lips to brace the gum,

blow air slowly and carefully from your lungs...

if you want to blow the biggest bubbles, be careful & blow slowly,

keeping even pressure on the gum to keep it from sagging

PRACTICE!  PRACTICE!  PRACTICE!

like all great “body skills”

(i.e. belching on demand, whistling, snapping your fingers)

bubblegum blowing will require lots of practice time to get it right!

the good news, though, is that it is something you can do

while doing other things

(today they call it “multi-tasking”...years ago,we called it

“walking and chewing gum at the same time!!!”

GUM IN HAIR

chances are, blowing a large bubble will produce giggles

when it pops and bursts all over your face...

sometimes it makes it’s way up and sideways too - right into your hair!

don’t reach for the scissors - the secret is a little peanut butter

or cooking oil, and a fine-toothed comb...

AVOID THE RULER ON THE KNUCKLES!

trust us, you’re too old now to even think you can get away with jamming

your gum under a desk or chair...

HAVE FUN!!!
